Did you know that Milwaukee County has 36 Wading Pools and Splash Pads that are free to use?  You don’t even need to be a County resident to take advantage of these free retreats from the heat!  The Splash Pads consist of various water features to keep kids entertained and cooled off – waterfalls, water jets, spray posts and more.

Most of the County pool facilities don’t open until June 18th, however a few Splash Pads are open June 7th and 8th due to the current heat wave.  The open Splash Pads are:

  • Clarke Square
  • Gordon
  • Madison
  • Washington

If you’re looking for more than just a Splash Pad, open for the season are the Milwaukee County Family Water Parks – Cool Waters in Greenfield Park, Pelican Cove in Kosciuszko Park, and David F. Schulz Aquatic Center in Lincoln Park.

Check out the Milwaukee County Parks website for more information on the Splash Pads, Wading Pools, and Family Water Parks.

Boerner Botanical Gardens

The Gardens, located within Whitnall Park in Hales Corners offer Milwaukee County residents ages 60 and older a $1 discount off the $5 admission.

Milwaukee County Golf Course Discount Card

County residents save $1.75 off admission at the Zoo every day.  On Wednesdays during the summer, the discount is $5.25 for adults and $4.75 for children ages 3 to 12.  The price of admission during the off-season is less, so the discount is less too.  See the Zoo’s website for complete information.

Milwaukee County residents get in to the Museum for free on Mondays.

Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes)

The Domes are free for Milwaukee County residents between 9:00 a.m. and Noon on Mondays (excluding major holidays and celebrations of major holidays). County residents ages 60 and older save $1.50 off admission every day.

Betty Brinn Children’s Museum

Although it isn’t being promoted, Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is offering free admission to moms again this Sunday.  The Museum is open from noon until 5:00 p.m.  Admission for everyone else in your party is $6 ($5 for seniors, and free for kids ages one and younger). The  Betty Brinn Children’s Museum isn’t promoting this on their website or Facebook page, however we contacted them and they confirmed that moms are indeed free on Mother’s Day.

Milwaukee County Parks Golf Courses

Purchase one round of golf and a single rider cart after 1:00 p.m. on Mother’s Day, and mom golfs and rides for free. This offer is available at Brown Deer, Dretzka, Oakwood, Whitnall, Currie, Grant, Greenfield, and Lincoln golf courses. More information is available on the Milwaukee County Parks Facebook page

Milwaukee County Zoo

As we wrote about earlier in the week, moms get free admission to the Zoo on Sunday.  The Zoo is open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Mother’s Day.

Old World Wisconsin

Admission to Old World Wisconsin is free for moms on Mother’s Day.  Although their website doesn’t mention this promotion, it is mentioned on the Wisconsin Historic Sites and Museums Facebook page.  Old World Wisconsin is open from noon until 5:00 p.m. on Mother’s Day.
