Ticket Auction for Uecker Seats on Opening Day

The Milwaukee Brewers are back with their “Best Worst Seats in the House” promotion where fans have an opportunity to bid on Uecker seats for Opening Day (Friday, April 6th at 3:10 pm vs. the St. Louis Cardinals).  The Brewers haven’t promoted this auction as much as they have in the past, which means there could be an opportunity to pick up tickets cheaper than previous years.

Uecker seats are obstructed view seats that usually retail for $1 and go on sale a few hours before game time. However, for Opening Day the Brewers are selling the seats via an auction.

Here are some auction details:

  • The seats are being sold by a dutch auction.  A dutch auction means the highest bidders will receive the seats. All winning bidders purchase the tickets at the same price, which is the lowest successful bid.
  • The auction ends on March 27, 2012 at 12 p.m. CST.
  • You can bid for either a single Uecker seat (20 available) or a pair of Uecker seats (43 available).
  • As in the past, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.

If you’re looking for an extra ticket for Opening Day, this might be a good solution for you.  Keep in mind these are obstructed view seats, so you’ll probably need to move to a Standing Room Only section if you’d like to watch the game.

At the time of this posting there have been 37 bids on the single seats and the current bid is $25.  There have been 42 bids on the pair of seats and the current bid is $21.  (Clearly, this bid is the best deal so far – an average cost of $10.50 per ticket, although the bid probably won’t stay this low for long.)  To view the auctions, go to the Auction page on the Brewers website.

If you’re looking for other seating options for Opening Day, there are plenty of tickets available on StubHub.  At the time of this post, there are 3,017 tickets available which range in price from $60 for Standing Room Only to $389 for Field Diamond Box seats.
