Milwaukee County Parks is offering a free round of golf at any of their Tournament, Championship or Regulation courses just for signing up for their email list.  Included is Brown Deer Golf Course, which has greens fees as high as $88.50!  Once you are on their list, you’ll receive periodic notification of golf specials.

Believe it or not, several Milwaukee County Parks golf courses are already open for the season. This is pretty amazing considering we had snow on the ground less than a week ago!

After filling out the form on the County Parks Golf website, you’ll be mailed a voucher for a free round of 9 or 18 holes at Brown Deer, Dretzka, Oakwood, Whitnall, Currie, Grant, Greenfield, or Lincoln Park golf courses. A golf cart rental is required to get the free round of golf, and there are restrictions on when the vouchers can be used. Check out the Milwaukee County Parks golf website for full information.

PGA Championship Discount Tickets

The PGA Championship is taking place this week at Whistling Straits in Kohler.  Yesterday, JSOnline blogged about ticket scalpers at the PGA Championship.  According to JSOnline, at least three ticket brokers are hawking tickets in the area of Exit 128 on I-43.  Fans coming from the south should see the brokers, who are both selling tickets and purchasing unused tickets.  It’s doubtful that fans will find discounted tickets there.  Anyone who is looking to buy a ticket at this time from a broker in that area will likely pay at least face value, if not much more, per ticket.

Full priced tickets can still be purchased from the PGA Website.  Keep in mind that if you purchase tickets this week, you’ll need to pick up the tickets at the Will Call Office.  Also, each ticketed adult will be allowed up to four (4) junior admissions (ages 17 and under) to the PGA Championship at no additional charge.  Ticket prices from the PGA Website are:

  • Wednesday Grounds Ticket – $53
  • Thursday Grounds Ticket – $100
  • Friday Grounds Ticket – $100
  • Saturday Grounds Ticket – $116
  • Sunday Grounds Ticket – $116

The best chance of getting discount PGA Championship tickets is on Craigslist or StubHub.  The price of tickets on Craigslist varies greatly from seller to seller.  We found several sellers willing to sell their ticket for less than face value, and many more looking to sell them for face value or more.  The prices and inventory is constantly changing and you might be able to find a seller who is motivated to get rid of tickets at a loss rather than not being able to sell them at all.  A good example of this is a listing on Craigslist by Ticket King offering grounds passes to today’s practice round for only $9 (face value $53).

If you’re concerned about buying tickets from a random seller on Craigslist, consider StubHub as an alternative.  StubHub offers a FanProtect guarantee, which ensures you’ll receive your ticket in time for the event and that the tickets are legitimate.  There are some discounted tickets avaialable on StubHub.  At the time of this post, there were over 75 tickets for Sunday’s event selling below the $116 price found on the PGA website.  However, one must keep in mind any fees that StubHub charges, plus consider the method of how tickets would be delivered.  It appears that most tickets would need to be picked up at a designated location given by StubHub for last minute purchases.  The fee for this type of pick up is $15.
