Pick ‘n Save Monopoly Game Promotion Returns for 2012

Pick ‘n Save has brought back the Monopoly game promotion again for 2012.  From May 20 through August 29, 2012 (or while ticket supplies last), Pick ‘n Save shoppers will be able to collect Monopoly game pieces with the chance of winning prizes valued at over $4,500,000.

To help you understand the various aspects of the promotion, including different prizes and how to obtain game tickets, we have outlined the details below.  In addition, we have detailed the differences between this year’s game and last year’s game.

How the Pick ‘n Save Monopoly Game Works

Each time you shop at Pick ‘n Save during the game period, you’ll receive a Monopoly game ticket.  Each game ticket contains four game markers.  You’ll need to affix the game markers to the game board (which can be obtained from your cashier or the service counter). Each game ticket also contains either a special coupon offer, two bonus tickets on your next visit, or a coupon for a free product.

You can earn bonus game tickets by purchasing specified bonus items.  For example, some weeks last year, 2-liter bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, or Mountain Dew were on sale for $1 each (advertised as 10 for $10).  Since these products were bonus items, you would receive one game ticket for each 2-liter bottle that you purchased.  There is no limit to the number of game tickets you can receive.

Monopoly Game Prizes

Pick ‘n Save advertises that this game gives you the chance to win from over $4,500,000 in prizes plus tens of thousands of dollars of special coupon offers. Prizes include:

  • 1 – $250,000 Dream Home
  • 2 – $50,000 Cash Prizes
  • 2 – $50,000 Vehicles
  • 3  – $30,000 Harley-Davidson Motorcycles
  • 3 – $25,000 Kitchen Makeovers
  • plus hundreds of other prizes including TVs, iPads, computers, and cash prizes

The Monopoly game also features over 1.8 million instant win tickets for grocery prizes.  The instant win grocery prizes are each valued at $0.75 to $3.79.

Differences From the 2011 Monopoly Game

Roundy’s has nearly doubled the number of game pieces available this year. 115 million pieces will be distributed in 2012 versus 60 million in 2011.  They have also increased the prizes, offering $4.5 million of prizes compared to $2.8 million last year.

Reactions to Last Year’s Monopoly Promotion

The 2011 Monopoly game was met with harsh criticism. Dozens of readers weighed in last year and expressed their frustration with the game. Complaints carried a common theme – the process of adding the game markers to the board is tedious and time consuming, and the chance of actually winning a large prize was very slim.

To celebrate the reopening of Bartolotta’s Northpoint Burgers and Custard for the summer, Northpoint will be handing out free burgers on Saturday, May 19th. The Northpoint free burger giveaway has become an annual tradition since they first opened in 2009.

The first 200 customers at Northpoint on Saturday will receive a free hamburger starting at 10:30 a.m.  The Northpoint Burgers & Custard stand is located on Lincoln Memorial Drive, south of Bradford Beach.

This will be the fourth season that the Bartolotta Restaurant Group has operated Northpoint.  For years, the North Point snack bar operated under Milwaukee County’s control.  In 2009, Joe Bartolotta’s group took over control of the snack bar and turned it into an old fashioned custard stand.
