- Earth Day is this Wednesday – April 22nd. As a result, many advertisers such as Home Depot and Lowe’s are promoting products that are environmentally friendly and can save you money. Home Depot has a free workshop on living green on Saturday, April 25th at 10am.
- The SmartSource coupon insert has a few coupons that will help you save money while helping the environment:
- Coupon for $1 off any GE Energy Smart compact fluorescent lighting product.
- Coupons for $1 off purchases of Scott Naturals bath tissue and paper towels.
- Coupon for $.55 off Reynolds Wrap Foil From 100% Recycled Aluminum.
- Kmart is offering double coupons through April 25th. See our recent post for more information.
- At a time when many consumers are cancelling their gym memberships in favor of working out at less expensive gyms or at home, Gold’s Gym is coming to Waukesha. Gold’s is advertising the next 200 members will have $1 enrollment and membership at $24.99 per month (compared to regular rate of $49.99 per month). Gold’s Gym is located at 831 W. - Appliance World has a unique promotion for four days only. From April 17th to April 20th, any purchase made will be 100% refunded if the Brewers win the World Series in October. (In Appliance World’s radio and print ads they can’t refer to the term “World Series” so they state “if Milwaukee’s Baseball team goes to the Big Series in October and wins”.) Appliance World’s website doesn’t have any information about this promotion, so you’ll need to call or stop by their store for more information. Appliance World has three locations:

Each week we’ll post some of the best deals we think we saw in the most recent Sunday paper. The paper was noticably lighter on this Easter Sunday, including the amount of advertisements. A notable sale we found on page 3 of the Local section is a “stimulus package” coupon offer from Ray’s Wine & Spirits. This offer is not valid unless you present the coupon from the newspaper. Here are the details:
- Ray’s will pay the entire sales tax of your purchase.
- Offer is valid from April 12th to April 19th.
- Sale does not include previous purchases, gift certificates, rain checks, email wines, special orders, and wine discount postcard.

Each week we’ll post some of the best deals we think we saw in the most recent Sunday paper. Notable coupons, sales, and other items this week:
- The Journal Sentinel produced a special section on Major League Baseball 2009. Kemps has a coupon on page 4 for $1 off a gallon of any variety of regular or select milk.
- Claim Jumper, located at Brookfield Square, is advertising Winter Specials. (Note to Claim Jumper – we know you’re new to Wisconsin and it still feels like Winter, but Spring started here on March 20th just like everywhere else!) Assuming they’re still running their Winter menu, they have select dinners at reduced prices from Monday thru Thursday (4pm to close). Claim Jumper’s phone number is 262-782-9800.
- The Milwaukee Brewers have a handy insert with a list of promotions for the year, the season schedule, and a poster of Ryan Braun.

- Robert Haack Diamonds has an ad on page 6A offering to purchase gold and diamonds. Present the ad for a free $15 gas card when selling your gold. The fine print says there is a limit of one gas card, the offer expires June 30th, and other restrictions may apply. - Rivertown Coin & Collectibles took out a two page ad on 14A and 15A. From April 6 to April 10, they will be buying jewelery (along with antiques, coins, currency, firearms, percious metals, and war relics) at the Radisson Hotel Milwaukee North Shore. - Michaels 40% off coupon for one item
- Jo-Ann Fabrics 40% off coupon for one item
- Sports Authority $25 off purchase greater than $100
- Laacke & Joys is advertising their Spring Patio Sale which starts April 2nd and goes through April 12th. There are coupons for $100 or $200 off casual furniture, a free umbrella, and free seat cushions. The Laacke & Joys website also has coupons.
- A Walmart ad on the back page of the USA Weekend section highlights Walmart’s 30 day prescriptions for $4, 90 day prescriptions for $10, and 100′s of over the counter drugs for $4 or less. More information can be found at Walmart’s pharmacy webpage.
- If you’re an iTunes user, you’ll like the deal at Toys R Us. You can save $5 on all iTunes gift card multipacks. The ad shows a multipack as three $10 iTunes gift certificates. This is a way to save 16% off your iTunes purchases. This is also perfect timing for the new iTunes pricing structure that Apple is releasing on April 7th. (We’ll post more on this topic later in the near future.)
- One trend in today’s advertisements is retailers claiming that they’ve lowered prices on hundreds of items. Both Lowes and Office Max are making this claim.
