Family Free Day at the Zoo on Saturday, December 1

Saturday, December 1 is Family Free Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo. All visitors will receive free Zoo admission (parking fees still apply).  The Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  This is the final Family Free Day of 2012.

North Shore Bank and Fox 6 sponsor several Family Free Days during the off-season.  Family Free Days typically fall on the first Saturday of the month from November through April.  Although the schedule for 2013 hasn’t been announced yet, the next Family Free Day is likely to be on Saturday, January 5.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular at the Zoo Friday and Saturday

This weekend is the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular. If you missed last weekend’s Boo at the Zoo, you can see the same Halloween displays and carved pumpkins at this weekend’s event.

The family-fun event runs between 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, October 26 and 9 a.m – 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 27.  Zoo admission is reduced to $8 for adults ($7 for seniors) and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Parking is $12. If you’re a Zoo Pass member, admission is free!

Scheduled Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular events include:

  • March in the costume parade starting at the Northwestern Mutual Family Farm at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Take a haunted train ride aboard Raven’s Rail for a spooky spin around the park.
  • Visit the Halloween Haystack Maze, enjoy musical entertainment by Razzmatazz and meet Captain Jack Sparrow.
  • View the displays of glowing and hand-carved pumpkins located throughout the Zoo.
  • Wolf Woods Crossing boardwalk, which features illuminated pumpkins and a musical animated light show.
  • Pick-up Halloween treats throughout the Zoo at nine trick-or-treat stops located among the animal exhibits.

Boo at the Zoo 2012 this Weekend at the Milwaukee County Zoo

The annual Boo at the Zoo takes at the Milwaukee County Zoo this weekend.  The popular family friendly Halloween event takes place the evenings of Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20.

Boo at the Zoo runs 6 – 9 p.m. on both nights.  Admission is reduced to $6.50 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 12.  Parking is $6.  If you’re a Zoo Pass member, admission is free.

If you can’t make this weekend’s Boo at the Zoo, next weekend is the annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular which has many of the same activities as Boo at the Zoo.

Scheduled Boo at the Zoo events include:

  • Take a haunted train ride aboard Raven’s Rail for a spooky spin around the park.
  • The Halloween Haystack Maze, located in the Otto Borchert Family Special Exhibits Building.
  • A display of glowing and hand-carved pumpkins in the outdoor Pumpkin Patch at the Feline Mall.
  • Wolf Woods Crossing boardwalk, which features illuminated pumpkins and a musical animated light show.
  • Meet Captain Jack Sparrow in the Zoo’s U.S. Bank Gathering Place.
  • Temporary tattoos in the Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country.
