Journal Sentinel Sunday Deals – May 31, 2009
One of the best deals around Milwaukee is the home delivery of the Sunday Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. You can easily recoup the cost of the paper with using a few of the coupons from the paper. Each week we’ll post some of the best deals we think we saw in the most recent Sunday paper. We know value is in the eye of the beholder, so we’d love to see you submit a comment with the best values you think are advertised in the Sunday paper.
Although the paper was loaded with various sales today, two items caught our eye.
First, in the main section of the paper there was a half page ad for Skippy Peanut Butter on page 17A. The ad includes a coupon to save 50 cents off any one Skippy Peanut Butter product 15 oz. or larger. This manufacturers coupon expires August 23, 2009. (On a side note, we found it interesting that Skippy would purchase a half page ad for a coupon in the main section. So we did a brief Google search, asking “do sales of peanut butter go up in a recession?” We found an article, which points out in the 1989-1991 recession, Jiff Peanut Butter raised marketing and support during the recession and their sales went up 57%! Perhaps peanut butter is a recession resistant food?)
Second, page 7H of the Entree section has a nice four week calendar to guide gardeners throughout June. Gardening is a growing trend as more people try to minimize their grocery bills. This calendar is helpful to keep your plants and yard in top shape and save you time and money.
