Pick ‘n Save Green Bay Packers The Winning Play Scratch Off Game

Pick ‘n Save has rolled out  a new Green Bay Packers themed scratch off game promotion. The Pick ‘n Save Winning Play Packers Scratch and Win Probability Game offers over $6 million in prizes and special offers.  To help you understand the various aspects of the promotion, including different prizes and how to obtain game tickets, we have outlined the details below.

We also have some opinions on how the new Winning Play Scratch Off game compares to the poorly received Pick ‘n Save Monopoly game.

How The Pick ‘n Save Winning Play Packers Scratch and Win Probability Game Works

Each time you shop at Pick ‘n Save through February 4, 2012, you’ll receive a scratch off game ticket.  Each game ticket has the potential to win the designated prize.  Scratch off the Prize Box to determine the prize for your ticket.  Then scratch off three of the nine footballs on the ticket.  If all three symbols beneath the footballs match, you will win the prize indicated in the Prize Box.  Each game ticket also contains the chance to win a special offer at the bottom of the ticket.  Scratch off the special offer box for a chance to win a coupon or an instant win prize.

You can earn bonus game tickets by purchasing specified bonus items.  For example, this week, cans of Bush’s Baked Beans are on sale for $1.67 each. This product is a bonus item, so you will receive one additional game ticket for each can of beans that you purchase.  There is no limit to the number of game tickets you can receive.

The Winning Play Game Prizes

Pick ‘n Save advertises that this game gives you the chance to win from over $6,000,000 in prizes and special coupon offers.  Prizes include:

  • Three $250,000 Dream Home
  • Ten $30,000 Harley-Davidson Motorcycles
  • Twenty $30,000 Vehicles
  • Twenty Five – $30,000 cash prizes
  • And many others

Of course, just because the prizes are available does not mean that they will all be awarded.  Even though there are three game pieces that will have the chance of winning a $250,000 “dream home”, the person with that card will need to scratch off the correct three footballs in order to win.

How Does The Winning Play Game Compare to the Monopoly Game?

Pick ‘n Save recently ended their Monopoly game.  Many readers shared their negative experiences with the Monopoly game.  Common complaints were that the vast majority of game pieces were not winners, and keeping track of pieces became tedious and time consuming.

The Winning Play game looks to be an improvement over the Monopoly game.  Since each game piece has the potential of being a winner, it won’t be a waste of time to scratch off the footballs to see if you win.  Plus, scratching off a game ticket is kind of fun!

I picked up a couple game pieces when I shopped yesterday. I like this game SO MUCH MORE than that stupid Monopoly game they had. I didn’t have to keep anything. I didn’t win, so I just threw my game pieces away. For the Monopoly game, I had to keep all those dumb pieces that I never ended up winning anything with.

  2. Val on Tue, 11th Oct 2011 3:15 PM

This game will be fun for my kids. They loved scratching the cards off. No winners yet, but still fun.

  3. Jennifer on Wed, 12th Oct 2011 6:40 AM

This game is worse than the monopoly game! You are only allowed to scratch off 3 of the 9 footballs and they have to all match! The odds have to be terrible. AND THEN–if you do happen to get all 3 alike— you win a buck!! Great! I had 13 tickets and of course didn’t win a thing. THe 25 cents off coupon of various items which is on the bottom of each ticket is really a waste of my time to scratch off–usually items that I don’t even want to buy. This promotion is really a dissappointment.

  4. Dawn on Wed, 12th Oct 2011 9:48 AM

I haven’t gotten any of these cards yet, but I would much rather have double coupon Saturdays every week than another game. I guess that’s too much to ask.

  5. Losingitagain on Wed, 12th Oct 2011 12:09 PM

I would rather see them continue doubles on Saturday than to spend all of this money on games. $0.25 off of items that are $2-$3 each is a little insulting.

  6. Alex on Wed, 12th Oct 2011 9:03 PM

I have won and my card said 2 Winning Play game tickets I don’t know if I win Tickets or what so If anyone could help and yes I scratched of only three and they match.

  7. Milwaukee Consumer on Wed, 12th Oct 2011 9:30 PM

Alex, you have won two more game tickets. Take your ticket to Pick ‘n Save to redeem your prize.

  8. joey on Sat, 15th Oct 2011 4:46 PM

i also did the same thing as alex, does two more game tickets just mean i get two more scratch offs or is there a prize to actually redeem

  9. Alex on Sat, 15th Oct 2011 7:15 PM

aww that stinks thank you for helping tho

  10. Caroline anderson on Sun, 16th Oct 2011 4:47 AM

Well I scratched my ticket and got three footballs that matched and my prize said you could win two packer tickets so I sent it to address green bay sweepstakes on back of ticket thinking that was what to do and the checkout gent said no I should have brought to counter and they could verify and see if I did win. What can I do pleas help help My phone number is […]. Thanks Caroline Anderson I just sent it on Thursday which it will go in a big drawing in kennesaw Georgia.

  11. Milwaukee Consumer on Sun, 16th Oct 2011 8:26 AM

Caroline, Packer tickets are not one of the prizes for this sweepstakes. You most likely won two more The Winning Play tickets, which unfortunately isn’t much to be excited about.

  12. Chris Schultz on Sun, 16th Oct 2011 9:24 AM

The negative things about this game is that only one symbol appears 3 times so the chances of winning are very, very slim. It would have been better if they had only six footballs or three sets of three so someone has a better chance of winning. I would be very surprised if anyone won with these tickets.

  13. Amanda on Mon, 17th Oct 2011 5:34 PM

If you are choosing 3 footballs of 9, there are 84 possible combinations to scratch. Only one of these ways is right. So you have about a 1% chance of winning on each card…

Don’t feel bad about getting the 25 cents off coupons, some of mine today were “Sorry, you win nothing”.

  14. Sofie on Mon, 17th Oct 2011 5:40 PM

The odds of winning are slim to none. This game and the $.25 coupons are a complete waste of time. No thank you!

  15. Mike on Mon, 17th Oct 2011 6:32 PM

I won two tickets to game 1 of the World Series at Miller Park. *SIGH* Just kidding, but this promotion is stupid. I suspect the “good” prizes will be invalid because you scratch off the wrong spots. That makes it a joke if that’s the case. I just won two free cards; I’m going to bet all the spots are the same so it doesn’t matter which three you scratch off. You virtually win nothing except a 25 cent coupon good for products you don’t use.

  16. walter curtiss on Tue, 25th Oct 2011 10:59 AM

“Scratch This” a waste of time and a mess on the table, worse chance than powerball,it’s a conspiracy coming back to pick and shove ,what they need is a good bakery, and some of the employees need a attitude adjustment, like they are doing you a favor by helping customers.the dollar store and aldi’s prices are better

  17. CijiDunne on Tue, 25th Oct 2011 2:20 PM

I’d rather see Pick N Save invest in better store managers and cashiers than this junk. What a sorry excuse for a promotion. Plus, the silver stuff you can’t even scratch off decently and you can’t even read the “prize” underneath. As my father always said “whoever invented this should invent one more thing”……. completely stupid!

  18. D2K on Tue, 25th Oct 2011 11:51 PM

I just scratched of 3 footballs and got three football helmets. My grand prize is……..

    *drumroll to rimshot*

    Two more game tickets!!!………………….

    *crickets*

  19. DM2 on Thu, 27th Oct 2011 10:08 PM

Does Pick n Save really think this contest is an incentive to shop at their stores? Monopoly was better despite the tiny game pieces.

On one of the Packers game pieces I stratched off 7 footballs and stared at 7 different images. I should win a prize just for doing that. It’s time to spend more money at Woodman’s and Costco.

  20. Amanda on Sat, 29th Oct 2011 5:52 PM

Guess what I discovered…you can’t help but win on the “win 2 more game tickets” prized tickets. I scratched them all off, they’re ALL football helmets!!!!

  21. Brian on Tue, 1st Nov 2011 8:18 PM

My wife won….she scratched off 3 of the same symbol. Now to see what she won………maybe some cash or a vacation or a snow thro……no wait she won 2 more tickets to try and win……awesome. Feels like she won nothing. Way to get our hopes up PicknSave and then squash em!!!!!!!

  22. Jim Leininger on Tue, 1st Nov 2011 8:24 PM

I scratched 3 footballs. My prize”You could win Two WINNING PLAY Game Tickets.
What does that mean? Get three game tickets and no prize?

  23. Milwaukee Consumer on Tue, 1st Nov 2011 8:42 PM

Brian and Jim – You’re the lucky winners of two more game pieces!

  24. Brian Coltrane on Wed, 2nd Nov 2011 9:31 PM

Sick n’ Pave needs a CEO who doesn’t think like a Flatlander, for openers. He markets to people like they just moved here from Chicago. High prices every day but whoopee, lookit our SALES! Yeah, whatever. Their sales flyers and coupon books look so much like Jewel’s strategies it’s laughable. “Save $2.00 when you buy any sixty cans of Bush’s baked beans! Must buy sixty!”

At least Sentry Foods will honor their sales prices by each item. If it’s 2 for 4 bucks, they’ll sell you 1 for two dollars, not a big deal. I’ve had Sick n’ Pave cashiers tell me I MUST buy the minimum of 10 items or whatever to get the sales prices. That’s great if it’s something I’ve got room for, like gum, but when it comes to stuff like frozen turkeys or boxes of cereal, I don’t have a place to store it or any hope of eating it all before it expires. Oh, and I’ve gotten rotten produce from Sick n’ Pave too. Last time I fall for the $1.88 bag of potatoes.

What do i do with winning play game tickets?

  27. Jackie Schwane on Sun, 6th Nov 2011 12:41 PM

I think that this game is to hard to win a decent prize I scrached 3 in a row and all I won was a couple of more tickeks.

  28. Brian Kuhn on Sun, 6th Nov 2011 10:46 PM

I liked Pick ‘N Save better when they were the “Low Price Leader” instead of high prices on everything that’s not on sale. I almost won $1 – I scratched off 4 to get 3 matching.

  29. Pam on Mon, 7th Nov 2011 9:17 PM

Scratched off a gazillion cards and finally had a card with 3 matches. My son was getting pretty excited but when we scratched off the prize it said “may have won 2 winning play tickets” May have – seriously? You want me to use a stamp to get 3 more tickets? This game is a joke – and joke is on me apparently.

  30. perry on Mon, 7th Nov 2011 10:37 PM

How have you guys not won a single card? I’ve won 2 1$ ones out of about 20. Now when I actually come on here no one else can win one to tell me if I actually get 1$ cash or if I have to use the dollar to buy food?

  31. Taryn on Tue, 8th Nov 2011 11:47 AM

What does “You could win $1 Winning Play Cash” mean? Do I bring this to the customer service counter and they will tell me I possibly won $1 and for what?

I agree with most of these posts a lot of tickets I have scratched but only 1 possible “You could win” bull crap????

  32. Nick on Wed, 9th Nov 2011 1:04 PM

As someone else mentioned, the tickets that win you 2 more tickets have the same symbol under all 9 footballs. I did actually win a $1 the other day, took it up to customer service and had to fill out all this stuff with my info for a lousy dollar. If they are going to make it this hard to win something, the least they could do is make the prizes better.

  33. Karley on Thu, 10th Nov 2011 1:51 AM

i scratched mine off and it said ” i could win 1$ winning play cash” what does this mean?

  34. franklin debeers on Sat, 12th Nov 2011 3:20 PM

Who was the mathematical genius who thought of this game. If my calculations are correct, you have a 504 to 1 chance of guessing the 3 correct balls. My small sample of 40 tickete resulted in 1 prize over $5. therefore, I have a 20,000 to 1 to win over $5. You’ve got to be kidding me.

Short and directly to the point: THIS SCRATCH OFF GAME IS A J-O-K-E!!!!!

  38. VIcky on Tue, 22nd Nov 2011 11:45 PM

My first one i scratched off and won :) was very excited until i found out that all i won were two more scratch off… seeing that it is so rare to win, they should have had better prizes than two more scratch off… the associate who checked me out just gave me like five…it seems easy to get them seeing that i didnt buy much…

  39. Patti on Fri, 25th Nov 2011 2:07 PM

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse than Monopoly…

I must have received hundreds of tickets since this game started. The only thing I won so far is more tickets.

    I now have a system.
    1) Scratch off only the “WI” letters in “Extra Winning Play” at the bottom. If it says 25c underneath, then move on. I don’t need/want a 25 cents coupon.
    2) Scratch off only the letter “R” in Prize Box. If it says $1, then I have a remote chance of winning $1 WINNING PLAY cash. Not worth my time to try to scratch off footballs.
Sometimes these tickets go to the kids, otherwise directly in the trash.

One ticket today stated “You could win $5 cash” in the prize box… I *COULD* win? Anyway, I didn’t get the magic matching footballs. Into the trash with the other 18 tickets. Such a waste of paper and printing.

Roundy’s needs a new marketing firm!!

  40. Mary Pucci on Sun, 27th Nov 2011 7:41 PM

This is a lousy gimmick! After scratching hundreds of these, I finally won.

and what did I win “”you could win two winning game play tickets” who gives a rats ass, I get them all the time. I am going to complain about this, this is ridiculous and save your 25 cent coupons because half the fime they are worthless!

  41. Phil on Thu, 1st Dec 2011 2:59 PM

Where is the over 6 Million Dollars in prizes?

  42. Anna on Fri, 9th Dec 2011 1:53 PM

Well, it sucks to know I had two tickets with three matches and have only won $1 and two more tickets. I was excited until i came to this site :-(

  43. Cory on Wed, 14th Dec 2011 11:40 AM

I scratch these off for the heck of it! I have won a pack of gum & a bag of Jay’s Potato chips on the Extra scratch at the bottom, just scratch the WI location, if it is a coupon throw it away – not worth it.
I have scratched nearly 150 of these and have won on 20 total tickets (more tickets or $1)

If you play smart, you can somewhat keep track of the winning-est locations / patterns.

  44. tom on Tue, 20th Dec 2011 5:11 PM

I have better odds of winning on a lottery ticket….How about bringing back points for every $35 I spend so that I can at least get a gift card in return for shopping there??? These contests are a waste of my time, the 25 cent coupons are always for useless items that I don’t want & even if I did, they won’t double them?? This trend that Pick’nSave began 2 or so years back is making me want to just drive the extra few miles to go shop at Walmart…In the long run, I’ll save more WITHOUT having to jump through hoops to save my HARD EARNED MONEY

  45. Christine L. Metz on Sat, 24th Dec 2011 4:59 PM

I think this game is a rip off. I have successfully matched 3 helmets 3 times only to see in the prize box “i could win” two more of these tickets. Is this even legal! Pick-n-save must be feeling a drop in customers to put out such a disappointing illusion that they care about their customers. I am beginning to hate going to these stores. They never have what I need and their prices are starting to become alittle too much for my budget. Piggley Wggley and Dollar General are better bargains everyday all day!

  46. julie on Thu, 29th Dec 2011 11:11 PM

this is a stupid game. As far as I can tell, the only way to win anything big is to mail the tickets, one per envelope, to the address on the back. As far as the scratch-offs, that’s practically impossible.
So I felt good when I scratched 3 helmets till I see all I won was 2 more tickets. Then to top it off, someone here says on those tickets all the footballs are helmets, so you can’t lose.
On most tickets the prize was $1 Winning Play cash–what the h__ is that?!
    Truly pointless.

  47. Brian on Sat, 31st Dec 2011 3:48 PM

I’m surprised anyone likes this new scratch off game, I find it incredibly stupid. The other day I went to Pick N Save and with my purchase, combined with the fact they’re now doing double tickets until they run out, I ended up with 28 tickets – I won a dollar. Not really sure why I wasted the time scratch them all off, but I suppose, I’m at least a dollar ahead, but there is no rhyme or reason to it, so not only is it a guessing game, it’s worse, it’s just pure dumb luck to match 3 symbols (that is, unless you have the tickets that award additional tickets. Found out from a friend, and later confirmed, that on those tickets, all 9 footballs are helmet symbols).

Add to that, that more than a few times I get the “no promotion or offer” or whatever in the second chance scratch off, where the (useless) coupons are, if they’re going to pull that, they might as well just not right anything and just show a picture of a hand giving you the bird; because you waste the time scratching off the second chance box and they can’t even bother to at least give a coupon? Of course, most of the coupons are useless; if they’re not for hearing batteries or 50+ vitamins, they’re for feminine hygiene products, and I’m a guy in his 20s…

Frankly, I didn’t have a problem with the Monopoly promotion they did; it really wasn’t any different than the one they do at McDonald’s, with the key exception that I shop at Pick N Save a heck of a lot more than I eat at McDonald’s, which meant I could actually play that promotion for once. I would agree that the better promotions are the ones with appreciable results, where the odds of winning are NOT astronomical and you can feel like you’re actually achieving something by participating. This current attempt at….whatever this promotion was trying to accomplish, failed at that completely.

  48. jlynn on Tue, 3rd Jan 2012 8:01 PM

I won $1 so far and, of course, more scratch offs, lol. Wonder if the high level prize tickets have the same symbol also under all 9 spots, if thats true then you know you are an automatic winner if the play area says “dream home” etc, that would be a win, win situation as long as you don’t mess up the ticket and accidentally scratch off more than 3 footballs!!!!!

  49. WR on Wed, 4th Jan 2012 4:10 PM

Personally, I’m just getting tired of sweeping up the junk on the table after my kids plow through the past few weeks non winning tickets… the lady in front of me the other day declined to take her tickets… saying it’s not worth the effort!

  50. AmberH on Wed, 4th Jan 2012 9:56 PM

I too had two matching tickets for some game tickets and when I brought them in it was so dumb, the cashier took it like it was nothing and handed me a bunch more… WTH is the point??? I had two matching game tickets and I didnt win a Damn thing it was B.S!!!!!!

  51. skippy on Thu, 5th Jan 2012 12:25 AM

I have no complaints, I have done well. I usually ship Wednesday for double coupons, and get twice as many. Plus I flirt with the checkout ladies all the time. I also run there a ton for my elderly neighbors and play their cards so I have scratched a ton of losers off and feel your pain. However I have done well.

I scratch the prize box first… If I see the win 2 free tickets, I scratch the football helmet on the top right, I scratch the bottom right and make a triangle with the center of the second row from the right. Occasionally it backfires, but I won more tickets this way than I can recall.

    On the match three:
    I won 8 $1 prizes
    One $5
over a dozen Two additional tickets.

    On the bottom instant win:
1 small bottle of Orange Juice
    1 box of bagel bites
    1 roll of paper towel
    $20 gift card instant win

I scratch the prize box off, and refer to a pile of loser tickets where I scratched the entire thing off. Noticed a few paterns, but mostly blind luck. Granted I have scratched hundreds to get the wins I did.

The coupons are nice, but Chairman Bob, how bout more than 25 cents off an item. Most are for 5.00+ items. The only good deals are a 25 cents off of 58 cent yogart, and 25 cents off a snickers bar. On double coupon days, they are almost free..

  52. Resa Wronski on Fri, 6th Jan 2012 7:20 PM

I like scratch offs there just like the Wisconsin lottery I never win! What the Fries?…

  53. don on Wed, 11th Jan 2012 1:19 PM

This game is a fraud and rip-off to the customer. I too, matched 3 helmets but only win 2 play tickets – what a bunch of crap. These tickets are free, no purchase necessary as noted on the ticket stub. I will never shop at another Pick’n Save. How can a prize be winning two play tickets when they are free and a purchase is’nt necessary. I am going to file a compliant to the Attorney General’s office and maybe all of us who were ripped off file a class action suit against Pick’n Save!!!!

  54. Susan on Mon, 16th Jan 2012 5:09 PM

I think the scratch off is just one big joke!!!!!!!

I stopped shopping at Pick & Save because of the high prices and I believe the management has gotten out of hand with incentive games such as these. I can now add I stopped shopping because of the “come on scratch offs” they offer as well as the unrealistic high prices.

  55. connie on Tue, 17th Jan 2012 9:22 PM

i won but i havent recieved my winnings yet

  56. Bob on Wed, 18th Jan 2012 12:17 PM

    I scratched off 2e (TWENTY-THREE!!!!) tickets. Of those 23 ONE (1) ticket was for 2 extra tickets. Curious, I scratched off the other 6 spots & found they were all the same, a football helmet. Of the remaining 22 tickets they were all $1 dollar winners if I could have scratched off 3 like symbols by only scratching off 3 spots. I couldn’t!!! The breakdown is as follows: 4 spots removed–1; 5 spots removed–2;
    6 spots removed–2; 7 spots removed–3; 8 spots removed–7; & 9 spots removed–7.
All the tickets were given to me at one time (today) after paying for my groceries. (Presumedly, because the game is coming to an end.) Based on the above I can only conclude no one is going to win the Grand Prizes. Nice scamming Roundy’s. Sure would like to see whoever regulates these types of grocery lotteries investigate this.

  57. Brian on Wed, 18th Jan 2012 12:31 PM

I can’t help but think it might be a little better, if it was at least done where you match 3, but could scratch off up to 5 spaces. It wouldn’t be a given that you’d win, but the odds would be a little better and you wouldn’t have that instant sense of defeat when the second space you scratch off isn’t a match; or if you happen to match two on the first two goes, you have that same feeling of impending disappointment, because the odds of the next scratch being the right choice is so ridiculously low.

Now, I haven’t seen or heard anything to back this up, but I believe the larger prizes are supposed to be part of that lower, second round scratch off; based entirely on how the text on that section is worded. It would make this game a thousand times dumber if they put the large prizes in the part with almost no chance of being won – but of course, I haven’t heard about anyone winning anything substantial yet either. One of the downsides to a game being played over such a broad area, too, I suppose. Much more interesting when the game is more local and the results are more clearly seen and can be appreciated.

  58. Jeff on Sat, 21st Jan 2012 10:16 AM

The only 2 tickets I won so far are for – 2 more tickets- Guess what? The little numbers next to the symbols were the same on both tickets, as the positions. So if you save all your losers you might match a potential winner to one of them, if you are bored enough,

  59. Brian on Sun, 22nd Jan 2012 4:08 PM

Two reasons that’s not true, I did check several previous tickets and they don’t reconcile with any matching positions for winning symbols. Secondly, all of the tickets that win two free tickets are same, in that you’ll find helmets under all 9 spaces; it doesn’t matter where you scratch off, so long as you scratch off 3, you’ll always win on those tickets – that’s why all you ever get with those are two more free tickets.

  60. Jamie on Thu, 26th Jan 2012 2:23 PM

This game stinks….. It a lose lose situation…. (even though I keep trying). The only thing I can ever win is two more tickets…., but I believe that’s all anyone can win…

  61. Richard on Mon, 30th Jan 2012 10:43 AM

Your Winning Play game is the absolutly WORST game I have ever experienced as a grocery store contest.

It is a waste of paper. The scratch offs net nothing more than more scratch off papers.

It has been going on TOO long.

    It is a nuisance.

How about lowering prices and forget about all of the games.

I found myself going to SENTRY these last few months and finding better deals. I never did that before. You and this ridiculous game have driven me there.

  62. IC on Mon, 30th Jan 2012 11:21 AM

Gotta agree with all the posts on here, this game is a total dud… Have the time, if I go to Pick and Save, I ask if I want my tickets and I just say no… Guess what, with the high prices and Pick your Nose, Woodman’s is the winner here!

  63. Rod on Wed, 1st Feb 2012 9:48 AM

I think this game stinks. If you get the game piece with the $250,000 DreaM Home you still have very little chance of winning. I have over 200 game pieces scratched
off and all I have gotten was a game piece to get another 2 game pieces.

The game is stupid, time wasting. I had a huge stack of tickets, ended up with maybe 10 saying you COULD win extra tickets. i’ll take them in and get more which won’t win of course. The 25 cent coupons, as in the monopoly game are worthless to me. I never used any of them.

I now shop Aldi, Walmart and Target most of the time. I’d rather have better prices than stupid games. LISTEN PIC N SAVE!

this game sucks you never win and when you scratch off the coupon section 9 out of ten time its 25c off a box of Post shredded wheat what am I going to do with 50 coupons of shredded wheat i dont eat it an I can only by one box at a time with a coupon I tried to give them to charity at the local food pantry the people who recieve the tickets still don’t have any money to pay for the other 75% so I ask why bother this game blow’s in fact the way Pick n Save has been running their stores lately is a joke no wonder the china backed walmart is kicking your asses in sales I SAY F YOU PICKNSAVE YOU SUCK SELL OUT TO WALMART AND GET OUT OF THE FOOD INDUSTRY !!

Followup: I took in my tickets allowing me to rreceive more tickets. Guess what? There was a big sign on the counter saying, Sorry, we are out of game tickets.

I had one saying you COULD winn a dollar and we did! So, in all we won one dollar through the entire game, all of our 3-football scratch offs were for nothing cuz they ran out. We stopped at 2 stores byw.

Please, give us lower prices; stop the games.
