Pick ‘n Save Ends Saturday Double Coupon Daze

Pick ‘n Save has ended their Saturday Double Coupon Daze promotion. The Saturday double coupon days promotion has been running since late 2009, and has always been extended when the promotion was scheduled to end.  Unfortunately Roundy’s (Pick ‘n Save’s parent company) decided not to renew the Saturday promotion when it expired on July 9th.

Coupons can still be doubled at Pick ‘n Save on Wednesday (see our rundown of the Pick ‘n Save double coupon guidelines).  Eliminating Saturday Double Daze will make double couponing difficult for those who cannot shop on Wednesday.  It will also take away a double couponing opportunity for those who liked to shop on both days.

Is this another sign that the climate for coupon shoppers is changing thanks to the TLC show Extreme Couponing?  As we wrote about last week, the Metcalfe’s Market Sentry store in Wauwatosa is changing their coupon policy in August, and recently the secondary market for buying and selling coupons has dried up

Will the elimination of Saturday Double Coupons change your shopping habits?  Please leave a comment and let us know.

Ending Saturday double coupons??? Yet another of many, many reasons I will be shopping elsewhere. Pick and Save has really nothing to get me there anymore. Woodman’s is looking pretty darn good!!!!!

It is disappointing however can’t say I am surprised based on the same reasons you stated. I also believe that Saturdays are so busy it is a diffecult day for the cashiers to be dealing to lots of coupons per order (for those of us who sincerely coupon). Hopefully they will pick another day so those who work 9-5 so to speak can have another opportunity to save money. Many familes are still feeling the sting of the economy, our family included. Without couponing many families would have to consider food banks – that are already seeing record numbers. I appreciate that Pick N Save continues double Wednesdays. Even though it means changing my weekly schedule I will do it to save the 40+/- % in groceries with coupons.

I would rather that Pick and Save maintained the Saturday
double coupon promotion instead of running the Monopoly
game which is too involved and requires too much of my time
to play. Giving a .25 coupon on the Monopoly game on a three
or four dollar item (coffee for example) is an insult to the regular

I agree Nancy! When I started to see all the Monopoly stuff I thought WOW how many thousands did they spend on the rights to the name/game yet alone on all the signs thru out how many stores and the boards and pieces! How about you take the 2 million it proably cost and keep the double days and offer it 10 coupons all the time! I have spent hours organizing my coupons from those pieces and also made a spread sheet to fast access if I have a coupon for that item. I was always told Woodmans didn’t take coupons but last week on here I saw they did and they have a policy wich is also something Corporate Pick N Save does not have! I think I may be spending more hours there shoping in the near future.

Both of our Copps stores are still doing Double Daze on Saturdays, I think it is just Rainbow and Pick N Save divisions that aren’t.

Dannelle – that is interesting…. Jennifer reported on Green Bay Consumer that Copps has ended Saturday Double Daze in Green Bay as well. Their website (a clone of the PNS website), removed all references to Saturday Double Daze. Are your stores independently owned? (I’m not sure if any still are, but some used to be.)

I am very upset with them taking double coupon away on Saturdays. I live so close to Pick N Save and have gotten new people that move to the area to love this store. I haven’t shopped at Walmart since Novemeber and I might have to now. This is too bad:(

Saturday is easier to get away to shop especially when you don’t have as much time weekdays because of working my day job! Double coupons cutdown on shopping to several stores for sales! Just have to go to Woodmans!

NO more Saturday shopping for me at Pic N Save…. Back to Woodmans!! Dumb move whoever decided to do this.

The Pick N Save at 1717 N. Mayfair Rd. still doubled my coupons yesterday; July 16th. They were so busy!!!!!! I’m guessing it’s because they didn’t stop double coupons. I was confused when I needed to go to another PNS, because they were out of something that I neeed, and the checker told the client “No more Saturdays.” I have a feeling individual stores may be maintaining the double coupons.
I usually only go to PNS for 1 large shopping trip a month, otherwise we are at Woodmans.

Wisconsin grocery stores are a joke with coupons! It’s like they are trying to control how and when the consumer will use their coupons. Why not allow the consumer to use coupons everyday? When the stores offer double days they will get more business and ultimately make more money with more shoppers. Every coupon that the store gets….they receive credit back from the manufacturer. With this horrible economy why not help everyone out. No matter what to all of the grocery stores….when you are a coupon diva like myself I will still save! In 6 months I have saved $1300.00 so take that with all your stupid rules!!!
