kerns-logoMilwaukee area carpet retailer Kerns Carpet One has been in business for 75 years and is celebrating with a couple of attractive offers.  Through January 11th, you can get no interest financing for 3 years on your purchase.  If you take advantage of the 3 years of interest free financing, you’ll need to make monthly payments equal to 1/36th of the purchase price for 36 months. So, if your purchase totaled $360, you would make payments of $10 a month for the next 3 years. If you miss a payment, you would be responsible for all interest charges associated with the program, so it is critical that you do not miss any payments.  Of course you’ll want to read all of the fine print regarding this no interest offer before making your purchase.

The other special that Kerns is offering is $75 installation.  This fee includes removal of old carpet, moving up to 4 pieces of furniture per room, and installation of new carpet.  The $75 price is for the entire job, so if you are having carpet installed in one room or the entire house, the price is just $75.

Kerns has three locations in the Milwaukee area – Brookfield, Fox Point & Greenfield.  For more details on their locations and hours, check out the Kerns Carpet One website.

Restaurant.com is running another 80% off sale through the end of the year, and this time you get a free bonus $10 gift certificate for each order you place.  With this special deal, you can get a $25 gift certificate and a $10 gift certificate to the Milwaukee area restaurants of your choice for only $2!  Or if you prefer, you can get a $10 restaurant gift certificate plus a bonus free $10 gift certificate for only $0.80!  There are over 100 restaurants in the Milwaukee area that participate in the Restaurant.com program and new restaurants are being added all the time.

To take advantage of this offer, visit the Restaurant.com website. When you check out, enter coupon code CHEER to save 80% on your order. This offer is available through December 31st.  The code for your free $10 gift certificate will be emailed to you within 24 hours

A great strategy for these sales is to buy a stockpile of Restaurant.com gift certificates (as opposed to gift certificates to a specific restaurant) to use at a later date.  Gift certificates can be purchased at a discount and then applied to the purchase of a certificate for the restaurant of your choice at any time in the future.  That way you can be assured that you always pay no more than $2 for a $25 gift certificate.  It also helps if gift certificates to any of your favorite restaurants are out of stock.

Each of the participating restaurants has restrictions, such as minimum purchase amounts and days that the gift certificates can be used. Make sure to read the details for the restaurant you’re considering before making your purchase.

The day after Christmas is one of the best days of the year for bargain shoppers.  It can be a great day to pick up deals on Christmas items for next year, like wrapping paper and Christmas cards.  It’s also a great time to redeem gift certificates that you may have received as a gift.

If you are going to venture out on December 26th in search of bargains, you can save yourself some time by previewing the sales on the website of stores you like to shop at.  At the time of this post many stores such as Amazon, Best BuyBoston Store, and Kohls and do not have previews of their post Christmas sales, but its likely they’ll release previews soon.  However, some stores like JCPenney and Sears do have previews available.

JCPenney will be opening at 5am on Saturday for their after-Christmas Sale.  Visit their website to preview their ad for the store closest to you.  The online ad has coupons for $15 off a purchase over $75 or more, and $10 off a purchase of $50 or more.  Doorbuster sales include towels, hooded sweatshirts, women’s sweaters, and men’s and women’s cold weather accessories.  Their entire stock of holiday tablewear, decor, and trim is 75% off.

Sears is advertising doorbuster sales from 7am to Noon on Saturday.  Notable doorbusters at Sears include an extra 40% off clearance prices, $9.99 Canyon River Blues jeans for the family, and 70% off coats for the family.  Sears also is advertising 20% off all Kenmore appliances; however, before purchasing an appliance, make sure you have researched the Wisconsin “cash for clunker appliances” program that begins January 1, 2010.

December 25th Update – Check out today’s Journal Sentinel for after Christmas sale ads.  Offers include:

  • Boston Store and Macy’s – coupon for $10 off a purchase of $25 or more.  Valid Dec 26th until 1pm.
