Milwaukee Area Halloween Freebies
There are several area businesses offering Halloween promotions this week. Some require you to dress up in costumes, but many just require you to show up.
Discovery World – Buy One Get One Free Admission. If you wear a costume to Discovery World from October 29th - November 1st, you’ll get buy one get one free admission. Complete the Great Halloween Scavenger Hunt and get a $5 gift certificate for the Discovery World gift shop. More details on the Discovery World website.
Eble Park Ice Arena – Free Admission. If you wear your costume to Eble Park Ice Arena between 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. on October 31st, you’ll get free admission. More details are available here.
Michaels – Free Halloween Event for Kids. Visit a Michaels store on October 31st between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 noon to make a free art project and receive free Halloween swag. More details are available on the Michaels website. (Thanks to Couponers United for the heads-up on this deal).
Old Navy – $2 Costumes. On October 30th and 31st, Old Navy will be marking down all costumes to $2! This is a great way to pick up a last minute costume or to get a costume for next year. (Thanks to Coupon Saving Game for the heads-up on this deal).
Qdoba – Free Children’s Meal. Children ages 12 & under who are dressed in their Halloween costume will receive a free kids meal with purchase of an adult entree at Qdoba from October 29th – October 31st. Check out Qdoba’s Facebook page for more information.
Sonic Drive-In – $0.50 Corn Dogs. Visit Sonic Drive-In on October 31st from 5:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. for $0.50 Corn Dogs. Details can be found on the Sonic website.
Taco Bell – free Black Jack Taco on Halloween. From 6:00 P.M. until 12:00 midnight on October 31st, get a free Black Jack Taco at Taco Bell restaurants. No coupon is necessary, and details can be found on the Taco Bell website.
Toys “R” Us Free Halloween Event for Kids – Kids ages 3 and up who visit Toys “R” Us between 12:00 Noon and 3:00 P.M. on October 31st with their costume on will receive a reusable bag, which you can fill up with goodies and giveaways. Eble Park Ice Arena Customer Appreciation October 31st
Eble Park Ice Arena is holding a customer appreciation day from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, October 31st. There are some great deals to be had on ice skating:
- Skating admission is $2. However, anyone wearing a costume will receive FREE admission!
- Skate rental is $1. Sizes and quantities are limited.
If you can’t make it to customer appreciation day, normal open skate hours are:
- Monday through Friday – 12 to 3 pm
- Saturday and Sunday – 2 to 4 pm
- Adult admission – $5.50
- Senior admission – $4
- Age 18 and younger – $4

Danny Gokey & The Bucks for Half-Off
The Milwaukee Bucks home opener is this Saturday, October 31 2009 against the Detroit Pistons. At halftime, Milwaukee native and American Idol contestant Danny Gokey will perform. There are a couple of great promotions available for this game, including a half-off deal, a package deal with Marcus Theaters, and the Wendy’s Kids Free promotion.

Marcus Theaters Double The Drama Promotion

If you listen to Jonathan Green on 620 WTMJ, chances are you are familiar with this offer since he frequently promotes it. For those of you who are not familiar with this deal, the New Fox and Hounds in Hubertus offers a daily special (from Sunday after 4pm through Thursday) to buy one meal, get one free (of equal or lesser value). The fine print:

Bid On Milwaukee One-Day Blowout Sale
The auction site, BidOnMilwaukee.com, will be having what they describe as a “one-day blowout sale” starting at 6:00 A.M. on Thursday October 29, 2009. The sale actually takes place over two days, ending on Friday October 30th at 7:00 P.M. Bid On Milwaukee is an auction website that is run by several Milwaukee Clear Channel radio stations (97.3 The Brew, Newstalk 1130 WISN, My 95.7, FM 106.1, AM 920 The Wolf, and V100.7). For this round of auctions, there are over 300 items up for bid including HDTV’s from Techteriors, health club memberships at clubs like Snap Fitness, The Princeton Club and Innovative Health & Fitness, and overnight stays at places like the Bridgeport Resort in Sturgeon Bay and Sybaris Pool Suites. Most of the items are valued at hundreds, or thousands of dollars.

Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program
Earlier this month WE Energies announced that households who are eligible for statewide Energy Assistance funds could begin to apply for help with their energy bills. New guidelines were passed by the state legislature earlier this year, so its worth taking a look at the guidelines to see if your situation applies.
According to WE Energies, “Families with incomes at or below 60 percent of the state medium income, or making approximately $45,000 for a family of four, may qualify for energy assistance dollars to help pay their energy bills. Customers who have not qualified for energy assistance in the past may qualify now.”
If you qualify, call 1-866-HEATWIS (432-8947), or visit the “Where to Apply” tab on www.homeenergyplus.wi.gov to find your local energy assistance agency.
According to WE Energies, “The benefit amount is determined by factors such as household income, annual energy usage, household size and type of housing unit. Applicants must bring the following items to the energy assistance agencies to determine eligibility:
- Proof of income for all household members 18 years or older for the previous three months.
- Social Security cards for everyone in the household.
- Current energy bill.
- If the applicant is a renter and heat is included, a rent certificate or statement from the landlord confirming that heat is included in rent payments.”
